Help wanted sign

A Help Wanted sign that says what the job is.

A blank “Help Wanted” card from the hardware store tells people you're hiring, but not for what or for how much. Make one with the job, the pay and a way to apply, and print it on your own printer today.

What to put on a help wanted sign

People read a door sign in a few seconds while walking past. Put the answers to their first questions on it and leave the rest for the conversation.

  • The job: “Line cook”, “Cashier”, or “All positions” when you'll take anyone good.
  • The pay, if you're willing to post it. It's what people look for first, so the maker prints it largest.
  • Hours or shifts: full time, part time, weekends.
  • How to apply: “apply inside”, “ask for a manager”, a phone number, or a QR code to your application link.
  • A “Still hiring as of” date, so nobody wonders whether the sign is left over from last year.

“Help wanted” or “Now hiring”?

They mean the same thing. “Help wanted” is the traditional store-window wording and suits a family business or a diner; “Now hiring” and “We're hiring” read a little more current.

The maker has all three, plus “___ wanted” for one role (“Drivers wanted”, “Cooks wanted”). Switch the headline at any time; the rest of the sign stays as you made it.

Where to hang it

Eye level on the front door is the classic spot. A few more places worth a copy:

  • The window facing the street or the parking lot, at the height of a driver's eyes.
  • Next to the register, where customers wait and read.
  • A yard sign by the road or a banner on the building, if you get drive-by traffic (those sizes come in the $12 pack).

Questions

Is the help wanted sign really free?

Yes. The letter-size sign downloads as a PNG with a small “Made at nowhiringsign.com” line at the bottom. No account and no email. The $12 pack adds every other size, Spanish and English versions, and removes that line.

Can I list several jobs on one sign?

Yes. Choose “Several roles” and add up to five jobs, each with its own pay. For a general sign, choose “General” and it prints “All positions” with an optional starting pay.

Can I print it at home?

Yes. The letter size (8.5 × 11 in) prints on any home or office printer. Use regular paper for inside the window, or card stock if it goes on a door.

Can I make a help wanted sign in Spanish?

Yes. Switch the language and the headline prints “Se solicita personal” or “Estamos contratando”, with the tags and how-to-apply lines in Spanish. Job titles stay as you type them.

Does the QR code work after I print it?

Yes. It links straight to the address you type (your careers page, a Google Form, or a job post), so it keeps working as long as that page does. We don't host job pages or collect applications.
